LIKE IT OR NOT, THE LORD REALLY DOES LAUGH AT AND MOCK THE SUFFERING VICTIMS OF HIS CHASTISING HURRICANES, DESCRIBED REPEATEDLY AS “WICKED” VICTIMS BECAUSE OF THEIR FLAGRANT SINNING, WHO HAVE REAPED WHAT THEY HAVE SOWN (PROVERBS 1:26)

HOME

Hurricanes Harvey (2017) and Michael (2018), as the Bible clearly indicates, were punishment for western Floridians and southeastern Texans because the overwhelming majority of them have been flagrantly breaking God’s laws for many decades (the Ten Commandments, the safe meat, festival, tithing, Saturday Sabbath laws, divorcing for frivolous reasons, occasionally using God’s name in vain or disrespectfully, killing unborn babies, fornicating, promoting the big lie of evolutionism, and on and on). These people, described by the Bible four times as “wicked,” in the verses below, “reaped the whirlwind.” These and other hurricanes and tornados were a product of sin, not global warming, but global warming probably helped intensify their winds. Hurricanes are mentioned in the Old Testament as divine punishment for breaking Old Testament laws, so since those ancient “whirlwinds” are still around, they help confirm that many Old Testament laws are still valid since  most people continue to break God’s laws.

Proverbs 1:25-27: “Because you disdained all my counsel, and would have none of my rebuke, 26 I ALSO WILL LAUGH  AT YOUR CALAMITY; I WILL MOCK WHEN YOUR TERROR COMES, 27 WHEN YOUR TERROR COMES LIKE A STORM, AND YOUR DESTRUCTION COMES LIKE A WHIRLWIND (cuwphah which means hurricane), WHEN DISTRESS AND ANGUISH COME UPON YOU.”

Jeremiah 23:19-20: “Behold, a whirlwind (chuwl which means tornado) of the Lord has gone forth in fury — a violent whirlwind (chuwl which means tornado)! It will fall violently on the head of the WICKED. 20 THE ANGER OF THE LORD WILL NOT TURN BACK UNTIL HE HAS EXECUTED AND PERFORMED THE THOUGHTS OF HIS HEART. In the latter days you will understand it perfectly.” Jeremiah 30:23,24: “…….. the whirlwind (tornado or violent storm) of the Lord goes forth with fury, a continuing whirlwind (hurricane or tornado); it will fall violently on the head of the WICKED. 24 …….. in the latter days you will consider it.”

Proverbs 10:25: “When the whirlwind (chuwl which means tornado) passes by, the WICKED is no more, but the righteous has an everlasting foundation.” Nahum 1:3: “THE LORD is slow to anger and great in power, and WILL NOT AT ALL ACQUIT THE WICKED. The Lord has His way in the whirlwind (chuwl which means tornado) and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet.” Hosea 8:7: “For they (idolaters) have sown the wind, and they shall REAP THE WHIRLWIND (cuwphah which means hurricane).” Zechariah 7:12,14: “…….. therefore came a great wrath from the Lord of hosts. 14 But I scattered them (sinners) with a whirlwind …….. Thus the land was desolate after them ……..” Isaiah 40:24: “Scarcely shall their stock take root in the earth, when He will also blow on them (kings, princes, and their families who opposed God), and they will wither, and the whirlwind (hurricane or tornado) will take them away like stubble.” Job 37:11-13: “…….. His bright clouds. 12 …….. swirl about, being turned by His guidance, that they may do whatever He commands them on the face of the whole earth. 13 HE CAUSES IT TO COME, WHETHER FOR CORRECTION, or for His land ……..” (NKJV, parenthesized words added) Revelation 7:1: “…….. I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, so that no wind would blow on the earth, or on the sea, or on any tree.” (WEB)

Yes, it really is true. As you can see from the verses above, our Creator really does literally laugh at and mock the victims of these terrible hurricanes. While many verses in the Old and especially New Testament show that God is a God of love, many other verses, including many in the New Testament reveal that God does have an EXTREMELY, EXTREMELY INTENSE HATRED of sin, which HE WILL NOT FORGET NOR FORGIVE, concerning those who deliberately refuse to repent or even those who sin in ignorance, according to Jeremiah 23:20. His super hatred of sin is exemplified by His use of the equivalent of a HYDROGEN BOMB dropped on Sodom, a city of flagrantly sinning homosexuals long ago, verified by a recent, highly technical, September 2021 article in the respected Nature journal. Our Lord plainly states or strongly implies in Jeremiah 23:19, Proverbs 10:25, Hosea 8:7, and Zechariah 7:14 above that “whirlwinds,” tornados and hurricanes (read Proverbs 1:27 and Hosea 8:7 again which specify hurricanes in the original Hebrew), can specifically target sinners or sometimes just destroy their possessions, leaving the righteous unharmed. Biblical verses such as Psalm 91:5: “You shall not be afraid of the terror by night ……” (WEB)  and the above Proverbs 10:25 show that the righteous will be given divine protection from harm. Revelation 7:1 above reveals that just a few angels can control wind on the earth. Except for Proverbs 1:27, Hosea 8:7, and Zechariah 7:14 the original Hebrew word for the “whirl” part of “whirlwind” in all of the above verses is chuwl, Strong’s number 2342, which means to “twist” or “whirl” as in a “circular or spiral manner,” obviously referring to highly destructive tornados, the only kind of weather phenomenon that acts that way, excluding hurricanes which involve a different Hebrew word. The original Hebrew word for “whirlwind” in Proverbs 1:27 and Hosea 8:7 is cuwphah, Strong’s number 5492 which literally means “hurricane.” The Hebrew word for whirlwind in Zechariah 7:14 is caar, Strong’s number 5590 which can refer to a tornado or violent, extremely powerful winds.

In 1980 just weeks before about 1,200 members of the former Worldwide Church of God, an ultraconservative, Biblically restored, first century like church that obeyed the dietary, festival, tithing, and Saturday rest laws, attended the fall Feast of Tabernacles in Corpus Christi, Texas, ferocious, record breaking, “storm of the century,” category 5 hurricane Allen with sustained winds of 190 miles per hour at one time and gusting even higher, began taking dead aim right at the Corpus Christi area shortly before the feast. Hurricanes always start losing power after they come ashore, but Allen suddenly weakened substantially before it ever hit land. The storm came ashore in the sparsely populated King Ranch area south of Corpus Christi, sparing Corpus a direct hit. Damage in Corpus Christi was relatively light and not substantial enough to disrupt scheduled feast activities. Weather experts said a mass of dry air in the western Gulf of Mexico substantially weakened the hurricane. I cannot prove that God miraculously did command that air mass to be there to weaken the storm to protect the church feast goers, members of a righteous church, but the possibility remains wide open that He did perform a miracle. The late Herbert Armstrong, the leading pastor of the same church, said essentially that coastal feast sites of the church had always been divinely protected from hurricanes, and he once pointed out that when a certain Atlantic coast feast site was no longer in use as a future annual feast site, a hurricane later caused serious damage to the area. The names of three thriving remnant churches of the safe haven Worldwide Church of God are mentioned on the INTRODUCTION page.

Just as scientists can describe gravity but still cannot really explain why gravity occurs, meteorologists can describe some of the physical forces that help cause tornados and hurricanes to form and move in certain directions, but they still cannot really explain why some of these forces occur, despite intense, prolonged research. It also goes against common sense or reason for the wind in tornados to

1) maintain itself in such a consistent and tightly disciplined circular motion in

2) a relatively small area without disintegrating and coming apart, with

3) grossly unnecessary, vastly elevated speed sometimes exceeding 250 miles per hour,

4) travelling along the ground sometimes for dozens of miles intact within a funnel without diffusing and breaking apart,

5) with its highest, most destructive winds concentrated near the ground where people live instead of higher where there is much more air available to absorb any remaining air of a different temperature, and

6) form within hurricanes where the air temperatures are much more uniform or even identical at various heights, without supernatural assistance.

Number 6 is a pretty good point, isn’t it? Try explaining that away using only random, natural forces. A strong argument that tornadoes are not just random, mindless events in nature, is that it seems inevitable that hurricane force winds would quickly and completely blow away and dissipate any and all tornados initially struggling to form within a hurricane (hurricanes always have winds of 74 miles per hour or higher), unless God Himself deliberately created the tornado and deliberately maintained it for a while.

The NOAA website confirms, if you’ll read the top one fourth of that page under “What’s the nature of tornadoes in hurricanes and tropical storms?” that tornados do occasionally, against all human logic, form within the inner hurricane force wind bands of hurricanes, unleashing further the wrath of an angry God. If that site becomes unavailable just search the internet under “tornados within hurricanes.”

Tornadoes have even been recorded in areas where no detectable clash of cool and warm air had occurred at the time, which adds support to the idea that tornadoes are not really completely natural, but are divinely created, even though people are not always harmed by them.

One of the definitions of rasha, Strong’s 7563, the Hebrew word for “wicked” in the above verses, referring to the storm victims, is someone who has violated the law, Old Testament law. In Proverbs 10:25 above the Hebrew word for “righteous” is tsaddiyq, Strong’s 6662, which can be defined as “lawful,” referring to the Mosaic laws.

Since these terrible, whirling storms are still around punishing us, a little logic and common sense would suggest that the modern day victims of tornados are also guilty of similar offenses (breaking Old Testament laws) committed by the victims referred to in the above tornado verses. Therefore it can be reasonably said, again, that tornados and hurricanes do help provide further verification that many Mosaic laws are still in force.

This page was created to let you be aware of what the Bible says about it, and to let you ponder the many baffling, scientifically illogical aspects of these ancient, terrible storms that are still very much with us. These storms’ highly disciplined, consistently circular, and unnecessary, grossly elevated wind speeds defy human logic and even the laws of known, understood physics. To say that it is only the mindless clash of cool and warm air that “naturally” forms tornados, and not God, is like an evolutionist or atheist saying that people generally die “naturally” from old age, and not from adverse divine processes. But according to Albert Einstein, human death from old age is not really natural or logical, at least mathematically. Einstein once said that it is mathematically illogical for a human to be born, grow and develop into maturity, then die. It is mathematically more efficient or logical for humans with their DeoxyriboNucleic Acid, the highly complex molecule that helps create and maintain human cell structure, to simply never be created or born, or if born, then to develop and never die. Apparently the Lord, in accordance with Biblical revelation, has deliberately, divinely tampered with or somehow caused DNA to eventually degrade so severely that death is forced. Similarly, God sometimes divinely tampers with the clash of cool and warm air to help form tornados. Einstein probably would have stated that tornados and hurricanes are also mathematically illogical if he had researched them.

Tornados have been reported on every continent (including the extremely cold Arctic regions) except Antarctica, proving that very mild or very little, and possibly even no atmospheric temperature differences can trigger mysterious, killer tornados. The desert dry, cold Antarctica is so sparsely populated, though, that there simply may not have been anyone at the time to report any actual tornados there.
